A few words from our Chairperson.

"It is my pleasure to announce another very successful year for Canal House. Community related projects were ongoing throughout the year in many different areas in which all of our learners were involved. This involvement has been highly recognised by the local community.

Community related projects were ongoing throughout the year in many different areas in which all of our learners were involved. This involvement has been highly recognised by the local community.

On behalf of the Board of Management I would like to congratulate all the staff and learners at Canal House for the wonderful work they do. As a partnership Community Justice project involving Department of Justice and Equality, Probation Service, FAS, County Galway VEC and the local Ballinasloe Community, I would like to thank you all for your continued commitment.

On 1st December 2011 we had a terrific turnout at Hayden’s Hotel to celebrate the great outcomes at Canal House at the FETAC Certification Presentation and a tribute was paid to each learner and the positive outcomes being achieved as a result of the hard work, dedication of all the staff at Canal House. Senator Michael Mullins presented the awards as our special guest. A sincere thank you to Senator Mullins and to the Town Mayor Michael Kelly for opening proceedings on the night.

A special word of thanks to Una Doyle Regional Manager of The Probation Service who has dedicated many years of service to Canal House and a warm welcome to the new Regional Manager of The Probation Service Ursula Fernee who will now be working with us as we progress to the future. Ursula is also a member of our Board of Management.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to Michael Donnellan for his support of Canal House when he was director of The Probation Service and we now wish him well in his new position as Director of The Prison Service.

I would like to wish the three learners who are moving on to employment and further education the best of luck in the future and to those who are staying with us I wish them every success in 2012."
